Instructions
for Dictation Exercises [ききとり]
1. Listen
to the reading carefully. Stop and
replay as many times as you like.
2. Take
dictation. Write down all words you hear
and leave a blank (_________) for the words you can’t understand.
3. Compare
your finished dictation with the provided text.
Make corrections to words you misunderstood and write the missing words
in the blanks. Circle any words you do
not know the meaning of.
4. Look
up all unknown words in the dictionary.
Write down the definitions in a separate vocabulary notebook. Study the new words and practice
pronunciation. You may look up a word on dictionary.com to hear how it is
pronounced.
5. Listen
to the recording again.
6. Take
dictation again.
7. Repeat
these steps as many times as you like!!
